Since 2018, rumors have been swirling about a Metroid Prime Trilogy re-release for the Switch, fueled mainly by the excitement surrounding Metroid Prime 4. However, despite this, Nintendo has yet to make any official announcement that such a project is in the works.

In a recent appearance on the Giant Bomb show, industry insider and VentureBeat journalist Jeff Grubb claimed that he heard “pretty definitively” that a Metroid Prime remaster would be coming “this holiday” to line up with the game’s 20th anniversary.

“I can say that I’ve been told pretty definitively that Metroid Prime Remastered is going to be one of their big holiday games. In the past I’d heard something was in the works [and] they had things happening with that game. Now I’ve been told that their plans are to release that game this holiday, I think almost certainly to line up with the 20^th anniversary in November.

Notably, Grubb’s statement only includes talk of the original Metroid Prime and not the other two games. With regards to this, Grubb believes that Nintendo will “likely” re-release the other two games on Switch eventually, but it seems only Metroid Prime 1 would get “the big remaster treatment”.

Of course, as with all rumors of this nature, we caution readers to take these claims with a grain of salt. Stay turned for more as it comes.
