Rumor: Nintendo Reportedly Filing DMCA Takedowns Against More Switch Emulators
After taking down hosting for major Switch emulators last year, Nintendo has reportedly filed even more takedown notices in the scene.
According to a report from Nintedeal, Nintendo has filed DMCA takedowns against a number of new Switch emulator projects on the hosting site Github. While specific projects were not named, others have reported these include Sudachi, Suyu, Citron, and MeloNX. Many of these projects are forks of the emulators Nintendo took down previously, which is unsurprising given that the source codes for these emulators are freely available online.
So long as demand for emulators exists, it seems unlikely that Nintendo will be able to decisively put an end to the Switch emulator projects, not that it will stop them from trying. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
