In its first year on the market, the Switch 2 has seen ports of a number of high-profile games, many of which would have struggled to run on its predecessor the Switch 1.

In an episode of the Game Mess Decides podcast, industry insider Jeff Grubb claimed that Playstation Studios has managed to successfully run Gran Turismo 7 on the Switch 2. Gran Turismo 7 is the latest installment of the Gran Turismo racing simulator series, known for having stunning graphics and performance. However, Grubb did not provide any further info about why Sony undertook this project, leaving fans to speculate about potential reasons.

While one might think the most obvious conclusion is that Sony is planning to port the game to Switch 2, Gran Turismo has largely been a Playstation exclusive franchise. Another possibility is that Sony was experimenting with the Switch 2 in preparation for their own handheld hybrid device, which they are rumored to be working on.
