Rumor: Pokemon Sun/Moon Leaked Design Materials Reveal Cut Eeveelution, Alolan Forms, And More
Earlier this month Game Freak was hit by a massive data breach which reportedly included several internal design materials for past Pokemon games.
Among these allegedly leaked materials are design documents for Pokemon Sun and Moon, revealing a variety of scrapped Pokemon and cut features. Most notable among them is a scrapped idea for a Flying-Type evolution for Eevee, as well as several Alolan regional forms that never made it to the final game. The cut features include a Gym Building feature that was often rumored about the games, as well as a unique mode called “Survival Island”.
You can check out a summary of the leaks below, sourced via CentroLeaks:
Scrapped Eevee Evolution
- Was planned to be a Flying-type, with a design already drawn out.
- Was scrapped because the design too closely resembled ones that were made by fans, and that the “design costs” would be very high if they were to decide to go through with it.
Scrapped Alolan Regional Forms
- Rhyhorn: Electric/Rock
- Seel & Dewgong: Water/Fairy
- Scyther: Bug/Fairy
- Snorlax: Fighting
Scrapped Pokemon & other forms
- Two single-stage fossil Pokemon
- Version exclusive forms of Mimikyu where it is dressed as other Pokemon
Scrapped Features
- More concepts for Ride Pokemon such as Arbok, Rapidash, and Magnezone
- A mode where players could dress up their Pokemon
- Gym Building feature
- Would have been unlocked after becoming the Champion
- Players would be tasked with nominating eight Gym Leaders for the Alola region’s Pokemon league, selecting among characters from the game.
- Dexio, Sina, and Ryuki were planned to be candidates selectable for this feature, representing Steel, Ice, and Dragon type gyms respectively
- Players would be able to design their own Gym Badges
- Survival Island
- Players compete to defeat giant mechanical Pokemon within a set time limit using three of their own Pokemon each.
- Battle system takes place in the overworld, where players move their Pokemon around and attack using one of their moves.
- Cave Diving
- Players could dive using their Pokemon to explore underwater caves
That said, as with all rumors of this nature, we caution readers to take the info with a grain of salt.
