Sakurai Shares An Early Prototype Of The Sans Costume In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate
Are you a huge fan of the the Sans mii costume in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Well, here’s a fun little development detail about him that we’ve only just learned today!
Earlier this weekend, Super Smash Bros. producer Masahiro Sakurai shared a plain image of the Sans costume to his Twitter followers. At first, the post looked like nothing more than one of the daily screenshots he’s been sharing – but the image was actually showing off a prototype model of Sans! (pictured above, left)
What’s so different about this prototype compared to the final product (pictured above, right), you may ask? Well, Sans was originally going to have actual fingers, instead of a blobby mitten for a hand! This was confirmed by Undertale creator Toby Fox, whom requested for this tiny change:
Originally, the Sans they showed me had tiny, tiny, fingers, but I asked them to replace them with a larger mitten-like hand instead. 最初に見せて貰ったサンズは小さい指があって、「それは…サンズの手じゃなくてMiiの手でしょう」と思ってました。やっぱり手袋みたいな手は最高ですね https://t.co/s1aR76hoS8

What do you think? Do you prefer the Sans costume we got – or would you have preferred this prototype with bony fingers? Feel free to share with us below!
