Earlier this week, Nintendo released Mario Kart World, the long awaited new installment in the Mario Kart series for Switch 2.

Now, fans have discovered that an important figure in the franchise’s history does not appear in the game’s end credits. As highlighted by @Stealth40k, Shigeru Miyamoto, the creator of Mario, is not listed in Mario Kart World‘s credits, not even as a Special Thanks.

Although Miyamoto was also not listed in the credits for Mario Kart Tour and Home Circuit, this is the first time that he has not been credited in a mainline Mario Kart game. Some have speculated that Miyamoto has been shifting away from involvement in games to Nintendo’s other projects, such as movies, theme parks, and the museum.
