Summer Sweetheart, a romance game featuring real life women, has been under fire for copyright infringement.

Some players of Summer Sweetheart were shocked to discover that music created by Japanese video game developer Falcom were used without permission in Summer Sweetheart. Stolen tracks included in Summer Sweetheart include “So Much from Today” from Ys Origin and “Crossbell City” from Zero no Kiseki.

Following the incident, the developers of Summer Sweetheart have put out a public apology to Falcom and an update will be soon released to remove the stolen music.

It’s worth pointing out that Falcom has a rather lax music usage policy. In 2009, the company announced customers who wish to enjoy Falcom music could do as they please, as long as they observed the terms and conditions that came with it. The terms and conditions forbidden Falcom’s music to be used for commercial purposes, a rule that the Summer Sweetheart developers have broken.
