Switch 2 Compatible microSD Cards Snapped Up By Scalpers In Japan

Earlier this week, Nintendo fully revealed the Nintendo Switch 2, and announced that it would only be compatible with microSD Express cards to support faster speeds and load times.

Unfortunately, microSD Express cards are more expensive and hard to find than regular microSD cards. Over in Japan, this has resulted in many retailers running out of stock of microSD Express cards, as reported by outlet Game*Spark. To make matters worse, many of the buyers appear to be scalpers looking to make a quick buck off of anxious gamers. MicroSD Express cards have since turned up on Amazon and e-commerce sites for almost double the original price.

That said, the Switch 2’s launch is still a few months away, so perhaps that will be sufficient time for supply of microSD Express cards to stabilize. Furthermore, the Switch 2 will ship with 256GB of internal storage, which will hopefully be enough to tide most players over without needing to get microSD storage.
