Team Cherry Confirms Hollow Knight: Silksong Will Receive DLC
After an excruciatingly long wait, Team Cherry finally released Hollow Knight: Silksong earlier this year, which was met with overwhelmingly positive reception from fans.
In an interview with Bloomberg, Team Cherry co-founders William Pellen and Ari Gibson confirmed that the team is planning new content for Silksong, presumably in the form of DLC. Unlike the game itself, they do not “expect to take an excessive amount of time”. They also teased that it will likely involve Steel Assassin Sharpe, a character who was featured prominently during the Kickstarter period that currently does not appear in the game.
Gibson: Sure (there will be new stuff coming to Silksong) …we didn’t plan seven years for Silksong. Not that we expect to take an excessive amount of time, but we still are pursuing the same development philosophy, which sometimes can expand our timeframe.
Pellen: …we’ve thought about the ideas that we have, the stuff we want to make and put in there.
Gibson: That would be a good opportunity to uncover more about them (the Steel Assassin).
Longtime fans may remember that Silksong originally started as a DLC for Hollow Knight that eventually spun off into its own separate game, and whether or not history is poised to repeat itself remains to be seen. Stay tuned for more as it comes.
