Tencent Denies Rumors Of Working With Nintendo To Distribute Products In China
Awhile ago there were claims that both Tencent and Nintendo were planning to form a joint venture to distribute the Nintendo Switch and other products in China. Arena of Valor’s upcoming Switch port was said to be the first stepping stone of that partnership.
Turns out that this rumor has been debunked by Tencent themselves, as they have completely denied it.
In case you are unaware, there isn’t a company officially distributing Nintendo products in mainland China at this point of time. iQue, a subsidiary of Nintendo, used to distribute the Nintendo 3DS XL in China but that has stopped a few years ago as they have transitioned into a company focusing on development.
Nintendo, however, does distribute products to retailers in Hong Kong and Taiwan, and that’s where some Chinese retailers (and scalpers) get their hands on stock from.
