Apparently the Joy-Con is capable of measuring the heartbeat of a human being thanks to the IR Camera. This feature was shown off in the very first trailer for Ring Fit Adventure:

Many people see this as a revival of the Wii Vitality Sensor, an accessory that Nintendo announced many years ago, but it was never released. The Wii Vitality Sensor could measure a person’s heartbeat as well:
