The Legend Of Zelda Tears Of The Kingdom Devs Say There Are “No Plans” For Additional Content At This Time
Earlier this year, Nintendo launched The Legend Of Zelda: Tears Of The Kingdom, which went on to become one of their most successful games of the year, selling 10 million copies within its first few days on sale.
With such stellar commercial and critical success, one would think that some post launch DLC content would be a no brainer. However, in an interview with Famitsu, Zelda Producer Eiji Aonuma revealed that there are “no plans” to release additional content for the game. Elaborating further, Aonuma said that the team feels they have “done everything they can to create games in that world”, implying that they might be definitively be done with Breath Of The Wild‘s iteration of Hyrule, at least for now.
There are no plans to release additional content this time, but that’s because I feel like I’ve done everything I can to create games in that world. In the first place, the reason why we chose this time as a sequel to the previous game is because we thought there would be value in experiencing a new kind of play in that place in Hyrule. Then, if such a reason is newly born, it may return to the same world again. Whether it’s a sequel or a new work, I think it will be a completely new way to play, so I’d be happy if you could look forward to it.
This news is likely to come as somewhat of a disappointment to some, as the new gameplay mechanics introduced in Tears Of The Kingdom seem ripe for expansion in a hypothetical DLC or follow up game. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
