The Pokemon Company Recommends Players Transfer Pokemon From Bank To Home As Soon As Possible

Yesterday, Nintendo announced they would be ending online services for the 3DS and Wii U, with the Pokemon transfer app Pokemon Bank being among the few remaining unaffected by the shutdown.

That said, The Pokemon Company has issued a notice recommending players transfer their Pokemon from Pokemon Bank to Pokemon HOME “at their earliest convenience”. The implication of this seems to be that although Pokemon Bank will remain available, there may come a time where the service will have to be shut down as well, as will be done with the mainline 3DS games’ online features.

Should Pokemon Bank be shut down in the future, it will serve as another break in backwards compatibility for the mainline Pokemon games, preventing Pokemon from the GBA, DS, and 3DS console games from being transferred forward into the modern generations. Players who still have access to Pokemon Bank and have been putting off their transfers may wish to take this opportunity to do so before the doors potentially close for good.
