In previous Animal Crossing games, weeds will start popping up in your village if you don’t visit it for many days. The weeds are an eyesore and could be pulled out of the ground.

In Animal Crossing: New Horizons, it seems that they would be useful in helping you to repay your loan to Tom Nook. It appears that weeds, after they are pulled out, will go directly into your inventory, and you can resell them to Timmy & Tommy for 60 bells each.
