With 2017 coming to a close, Media Create has released sales data for amiibo cards and figures in Japan for the year 2016.
First up is a look at how many amiibo figures were sold in Japan last year. According to the charts, 2,483,771 amiibo figures were sold in Japan alone in 2016. This was a decrease from 2015’s 3,036,448. The most popular amiibo were Callie, Marie, and Squid, all of which are part of the Splatoon amiibo lineup.

When it comes to amiibo cards, 1.3 million packs of 3 cards were sold in Japan last year. The third series of Animal Crossing amiibo cards were the most popular last year.
