3DS And WiiU Eshop Closures Set For 27th March 2023, Further Details Shared
Nintendo has announced more details about the impending closure of the eshops for the 3DS and the WiiU.
As announced on Twitter, the eshop for the WiiU and 3DS will be definitely closing on 27th March 2023. The eshops will stop allowing players to add funds several months earlier on 29th August 2022, and users are advised to spend all of the funds left on their accounts before the full closure.
Updates on the discontinuation of #eShop for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS family systems:
– As of 29/08/2022, it will no longer be possible to add funds.
– As of 27/03/2023, purchases will no longer be available.

Following the closure, players will still be allowed to redownload games, DLC, software updates, and use online features on the consoles “for the foreseeable future”. Aside from this, Nintendo also highlighted that Fire Emblem Fates, will have slightly different treatment from the rest of the games on the 3DS eshop, with sales closing one month earlier on 28th February 2023. However, the DLC will still be available until 27th March 2023.
Sales of the game Fire Emblem Fates will end one month earlier, on 28/02/2023. DLC for Fire Emblem Fates, including story paths accessible after the completion of Chapter 6, will still be available until 27/03/2023.
