AWAY: Journey To The Unexpected Will Run At A Stable 30 FPS On Switch, More Details
On a recent interview with WCCFTech, indie developer Aurelien Regard has shared some bits of information for AWAY: Journey To The Unexpected.
Interestingly, the Switch version will run at a stable 30 fps with the visuals still looking pretty good. In addition, the game has been designed primarily for a single player experience only. Playtime can also vary from 4-12 hours depending on the player’s skills.
Here’s the exchange:
Wccf: From a technical standpoint, could you outline the specs of each version (PlayStation 4 Pro, Xbox One X, Nintendo Switch and a high-end PC)?
Seaven Studio could answer this question in a more specific way, they made the ports, not me. But last time I checked, the Switch version ran at a stable 30fps and the other versions at 60.
Also, the more powerful the platform, the more resolution, draw distance and details. That said, I’m pretty happy about how it looks even on lower powered hardware, this was super important to me.
They did a very nice job at having the same global experience across all platforms, so kudos to them for their hard work!Wccf: Did you consider having multiplayer at all in AWAY: Journey to the Unexpected?
Nope, AWAY is a single player experience only, and has been designed this way from the beginning.
Wccf: How long do you expect the game to be, based on playtesting? Is it very replayable?
It can vary pretty wildly, it could be anything from 4-12 hours, depending on your skills and how much you like to search for secrets. Some parts of the game have a lot of random elements (see below).
