Tencent Employee Says They Did Their Best For The Terrible Tencent Switch In China
Today we have some interesting news coming from a Tencent employee believed to have worked on the Tencent Nintendo Switch project in China.
The Tencent Nintendo Switch was harshly criticized for a few reasons – first, players could only access the Chinese region Nintendo eShop, which only has one game. Second, although the Tencent Nintendo Switch could play physical games sold outside China, it could not download DLC due to region lock. Third, services such as playing online against others worldwide and even things like adding friends outside China simply do not exist.
Amid all the harsh criticism from gamers in China, this employee told Nintendo fans that the team at Tencent had put in their best effort to launch the Nintendo Switch in China, and hoped they would “bear some understanding” in their hearts.
Here’s what they said (translated by Chinese Nintendo):
“A lot of [progress] you see as negligible or even terrible was already the best results achieved with full efforts. It’s okay to reject, and it’s okay to reprimand, but please, bear some understanding in your hearts. Thank you.”
