The video showcases a revolutionary anti-Koopa rap by Spike & Iggy. The song was written by Richard Edson (Spike), a founding member of Sonic Youth. Co-director Rocky Morton planned to use Sonic Youth for the film’s score, but was overruled by Disney in favor of the jauntier Alan Silvestri score.
The scene was likely cut due to focus on provocative go-go dancers.
The video also includes three more deleted scenes that provide additional political commentary on Koopa’s “democracy.”
