Random: Pokemon Brilliant Diamond/Shining Pearl National Dex Can Be Unlocked As Early As Obtaining First Gym Badge
Pokemon dataminers have uncovered an interesting finding about Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl‘s National Pokedex.
The National Pokedex has traditionally been a feature that can only be unlocked after completing the game’s main story, however, dataminers have discovered that Pokemon Brilliant Diamond And Shining Pearl allow players to access it as soon as they have obtained the first gym badge and reached Eterna City.
Since unlocking the National Dex requires that players view all the Pokemon in the Sinnoh Dex, this feat is only possible legitimately if players trade for every Pokemon they have not seen, or if they transfer the required Pokemon from Pokemon HOME once it is compatible.
The discovery was shared by dataminer Sibuna_Switch on Twitter, who also posted a video recording for proof:
Hilariously, you can legitimately get the National Dex and the Poké Radar with 1 badge.
The only requirements are to get to Eterna City and to have all Pokémon viewed in the Sinnoh Dex!
Ty to @QStheSLAYER for bringing this up and @mattyoukhana_ for looking into the script. pic.twitter.com/SxZ7RFv0Ga

Fellow dataminer mattyoukhana_ then followed up with a post explaining what features obtaining the National Dex this early unlocks, as well as what features still require beating the game to access:
Access to the locations/features listed below all require you to become Champion, and just having the National Dex early isn't enough to get access to them.
• Snowpoint Temple
• Sendoff Spring/Turnback Cave
• Fullmoon Island
• Battle Zone
• Ramanas Park
• Swarm encounters— Matt (@mattyoukhana_) December 5, 2021
Although it is currently not known if this programming was intentional, being able to obtain the National Dex this early is quite beneficial to players who wish to use National Dex exclusive Pokemon such as Rotom in their starting playthroughs, provided they have the means to fulfill the requirements.
