Nintendo Announces “Wide Care” Repair Subscription Service For Switch Owners In Japan
Nintendo has announced a new subscription service for Switch owners in Japan to send their consoles in for repairs.
The service is called “Wide Care for Nintendo Switch”, which allows subscribers to send their Switch to Nintendo for repairs at no additional cost. Damages covered include those caused by falling and water, as well as any other similar incidents which result in hardware failure. Subscribers may send their Switch in for repairs up to six times a year (twice for main unit repairs), so long as the overall damages do not exceed 100,000 yen.
For damages that exceed the aforementioned limit, subscribers will have to cover the remainder themselves, according to the following prices:
- CPU – ¥13,200 (≈ $98 USD)
- LCD Screen – ¥8,800 (≈ $65 USD)
- Other parts (excluding CPU & LCD) – ¥4,950 (≈ $36.5 USD)
- Joy-Con parts – ¥2,200 (for one Joy-Con) (≈ $16 USD)
More details about the service can be found on its official website here. At the time of this writing, it seems that it is only available to Switch owners living in Japan, and it is not known if it will eventually expand its coverage to other countries.
