Mario Voice Actor Charles Martinet will be Absent from WarioWare: Move It!
Nintendo has confirmed that the next microgame installment will not have involvement from Charles Martinet.
Coming right after the news that long time voice actor Charles Martinet is stepping down from the role Mario, we received confirmation that the new upcoming entry in the Wario Ware franchise will also not feature the actor. Nintendo World Report contacted Nintendo and received the following information:
UPDATE 5:45pm EDT: We reached out to Nintendo to inquire about other Mario universe projects – specifically WarioWare: Move It! (Nov 3) and the remaster of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon. According to Nintendo, Martinet will not appear in the former but will be in the latter. “While Charles is not involved in Super Mario Bros. Wonder or WarioWare: Move It!, we’re excited to honor his legacy and contributions, including looking ahead to what he’ll be doing as a Mario Ambassador. For the upcoming HD re-release of Luigi’s Mansion: Dark Moon, as it is a re-release, Charles’s voice will appear in the game.” – Nintendo
This seems to confirm that his appearance in past games will remain intact in re-releases but any upcoming new projects will feature the new actor as far as we’re aware.
He has historically voiced this Mario series character with last credit for Wario being in Mario Strikers: Battle League on the Switch. However it looks like he will remain as an ambassador for Mario beyond his time voicing the Mushroom Kingdom characters.
