Nintendo And The Pokemon Company Decline To Comment On Palworld’s Similarity To Pokemon

As Palworld‘s popularity continues to rise, many fans are wondering if the game will eventually become the target of legal action from Nintendo or The Pokemon Company, namely due to the stunning similarity many of the crafting games’ “Pals” have to existing Pokemon.

According to statements published by Bloomberg, both companies have declined to comment on Palworld, although Nintendo acknowledged that they are “aware” of the game’s existence. Admittedly, it would be quite difficult for either of the two not to be, given how Palworld has been dominating gaming discussion online for a variety of reasons.

Aside from the situation with Palworld, Nintendo in particular has a bit more vested interest in this case, as one of developer Pocketpair’s other games Craftopia  was previously criticized for being eerily similar to the The Legend Of Zelda: Breath Of The Wild, copying many game mechanics and even the appearances of some of the enemies. Some of these mechanics are also used in Palworld, although the design similarities Pokemon stand out a lot more.

While both companies have declined to comment for now, it is uncertain whether this is a sign of real legal action behind the scenes, or if they have simply chosen to let these similarities slide. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
