Historically, Nintendo’s many consoles have suffered from shortages at launch, often due to rampant popularity and scalping by scrupulous parties. Well, it looks like the company will be doing what it can to prevent history from repeating itself.

In a recent Q&A with shareholders, Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa shared that the company plans to produce enough units of the Switch’s successor to meet customer demand and prevent scalpers from reselling the console.

Furukawa also commented that Nintendo was considering other measures, “taking into account the circumstances in each region”.

On the topic of semiconductor supplies, the Nintendo President also noted that the global shortage that affected various companies from producing sufficient hardware devices was not a concern any longer. He also believed that it would not have an impact on the production of the Switch’s successor.

“Last year and the year before, we were unable to produce sufficient quantities of Nintendo Switch hardware due to a shortage of semiconductor components, but this situation has now been resolved…At present, we do not believe that the shortage of components will have a significant impact on the production of the successor model.”
