Japan: Video Game Bar Managers Arrested For Copyright Infringement
Japanese police have arrested four people in Kyoto and Kobe for allegedly allowing customers at their bars to play video games without first seeking the permission of the games’ respective copyright owners.
This is the first time such arrests have been made in Japan, after the Association of Copyright for Computer Software issued warnings to video game bars across the country earlier this year. A total of 30 game consoles and 1100 game titles, including but not limited to Monster Hunter: World and Splatoon 2, were confiscated by the police.
