In 2017, Nintendo announced they were working on Metroid Prime 4, to great fanfare and excitement from fans.
As typical of major game releases, Amazon opened pre-orders for the title so that fans could reserve a copy early. However, all were blissfully unaware that it would take over 7 years for the game to actually come out, resurfacing last year under the official title Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
Now, it seems Amazon has finally gotten around to cancelling those early pre-orders. As reported on the Metroid subreddit, those who pre-ordered the game back in 2017 are receiving notices that their pre-orders are being cancelled due to “a lack of availability”.

This seems to not affect pre-orders made under the game’s official title, but fans who had their original orders will presumably have to pre-order the game again as Metroid Prime 4: Beyond.
