Analyst: Nintendo Has Strong First Party Lineup And Big Third Party Surprises For 2019

A strong and varied line up of Switch first party titles is on the pipeline this year, according to a Niko Partners analyst.

Over on ResetEra, analyst Daniel Ahmad stated that there is actually no cause for concern for Nintendo’s plans for Switch throughout 2019. He also added that an announcement for release dates as well as exciting news will soon be coming.

“I don’t think people should be too concerned about Nintendo Switch’s pipeline for 2019. First quarter is certainly a bit light, but we’ll get release dates and news for other titles coming in 2019 fairly soon. Nintendo’s first party line up for 2019 is fairly strong and also a bit varied which is good to see. It’s just Nintendo will require all of them to be received well because first party titles are one of the main drivers for Switch [at the moment].”

As for the third party titles, he predicts there may well be some big surprises. However, not much new titles are expected and might not be too far off in terms of the number of releases in 2018.

“Third party will be more of the same. By that I mean do expect ports of older titles. Not that there is anything wrong with that, but the amount of ‘new’ third parties (that aren’t family / JP games) won’t be that different from last year. Certainly a few big surprises this year though.”

To recall, Nintendo have already revealed some first party titles we can expect for 2019: Yoshi’s Crafted World, Luigi’s Mansion 3, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, Daemon X Machina, Animal Crossing, and Pokemon 2019. Nintendo definitely needs to make sure these titles will deliver to drive the Switch moving forward.
