Did you know that the Animal Crossing series and Splatoon series have something in common? They were all produced by Nintendo’s Hisashi Nogami.
Because both Animal Crossing: New Horizons and Splatoon 2 are Nogami’s creations, Nintendo decided to hide a few references to the Splatoon series in Animal Crossing: New Horizons.
For instance, Blathers refers to “some sort of ink-squirting contest of champions” to help resolve differences, which refers to the Splatoon series:
And when you catch a squid, there’s a reference which says “it’s off the hook”, referring to the Off the Hook group in Splatoon 2.
