Earlier today at the Tokyo Game Show, ten games received Awards For Excellency at the Japan Game Awards, with one among them winning the highest Grand Award.
The ten Awards For Excellency winners were chosen by the Japan Game Awards committee out of 1036 titles nominated by the Japanese public from from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2020.
Out of the ten award winners, four of them were games published by Nintendo: Ring Fit Adventure, Pokemon Sword/Shield, Fire Emblem: Three Houses, and Animal Crossing: New Horizons.

- 13 Sentinels: Aegis Rim
- Death Stranding
- Fire Emblem: Three Houses
- Monster Hunter World: Iceborne

- Nioh 2
- Animal Crossing: New Horizons
Out of these ten titles, Animal Crossing: New Horizons went on to receive the Grand Award, which is the highest award granted at the Japan Game Awards. For reference, the previous winner back in 2019 was Super Smash Bros Ultimate.
