Atelier Ryza 2 Receives Details On Tao Mongarten, Bos Brunnen, And New Character Serri

Earlier this year, Koei Tecmo revealed Atelier Ryza 2: Lost Legends & The Secret Fairy – which sees Ryza and her friends returning after a 3-year time skip. If you’ve been wondering how some of the cast have changed in that time, here’s a new peek!

The latest issue of Weekly Famitsu includes a feature on the upcoming sequel, where we have our first look at returning characters Tao Mongarten and Bos Brunnen. Both of them have traveled to the capital to study, and Tao is noticeably more aged-up compared to his appearance in the first game – which apparently shocks Ryza when she meets him again:

Tao Mongarten (voiced by Junta Terashima)

Ryza’s childhood friend. He is studying abroad with Bos in the Royal capital, studying hard each day to become a scholar. He has grown quite tall over the past three years, and no longer has the appearance of a bullied child. While he still enjoys reading in solitude, since there are so many things to see and get excited about in the Royal capital, he spends a lot more time outdoors than when he was living on the island.

Bos Brunnen (voiced by Yohei Azakami)

Ryza and Tao’s childhood friend. He no longer has any ill feelings towards Ryza and company, and spends a lot of time with them—especially with Tao who is also studying in the Royal capital. He is studying extra hard to become a suitable heir to the Brunnen name. He is still as foul-mouthed as ever.

Meanwhile, Famitsu also revealed an all-new playable character, Serri Glaus. Serri is an Oren just like Lila from the first game – and apparently travels around the world collecting a variety of seeds. She is said to have a quiet disposition, but can be rather cold as well:

Serri Glaus (voiced by Yukiyo Fujii)

A woman of the same Oren species as Ryza’s former companion Lila Decyrus. She is on a journey collecting various plant seeds for a specific purpose, and offers to accompany Ryza and company to explore the ancient ruins. She has a calm personality, and is fair and upright with anyone she meets, but is somewhat distant with Ryza for some reason.
