At E3 2018, Double Fine Productions’ Tim Schafer sent the internet buzzing when he announced that the company’s flagship adventure game, Broken Age, would soon be arriving on Nintendo Switch. Well internet — that day has arrived! Brought to Nintendo Switch by Double Fine and the game porting experts at BlitWorks, starting today, Switch owners everywhere can experience the tale of Broken Age via the Nintendo eShop for $14.99. Additionally, a physical release of Broken Age for Nintendo Switch will be coming soon from Limited Run Games.
Originally released in 2014 following a record-breaking crowdfunding campaign, Broken Age is a family friendly, hand-animated, puzzle-filled adventure game following Vella Tartine and Shay Volta — two teenagers in strangely similar situations, but radically different worlds. Players can freely switch between the characters and their individual stories, helping them take control of their own lives, and dealing with the unexpected adventures that follow. The game also features an original orchestral soundtrack plus an all-star vocal cast, including Elijah Wood, Jennifer Hale, and Jack Black.
Broken Age is also available across a number of platforms, including PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and Steam for $14.99, as well as the App Store and Google Play for $4.99. For background on the project, fans can check out Double Fine Adventure!, a documentary created by 2 Player Productions following the development of the game and listen to the original soundtrack from acclaimed composer, Peter McConnell, here.
