The Pokemon Company and government of Fukushima prefecture in Japan have announced Fukushima’s first official Pokemon ambassador.
Starting today, the well-loved Pokemon Chansey has become Fukushima’s official Pokemon ambassador. Chansey will take part in various Pokemon events from March 16, 2019 until October 27 in Fukushima. Events include stamp rallies, events promoting tourism, sale of exclusive Fukushima Chansey merchandise, and donation drives for earthquake victims.
The first stamp rally, called Goal F-9, will take place in the 25 regions of Fukushima. More details to be announced at a later date.

This isn’t the first time The Pokemon Company has worked together with Japanese prefectures. Last year, Alolan Vulpix and Vulpix became official Pokemon ambassadors of Hokkaido. This year, The Pokemon Company plans to roll out more official ambassadors for more Japanese prefectures as a way to gain fans for the Pokemon brand.
