Charles Martinet To Step Back From Voicing Mario In Games, Taking Up New Role As “Mario Ambassador”

Nintendo has announced that Charles Marinet, the voice of Mario for over 30 years, will be stepping back from voice acting the character in Nintendo’s games.

According to a message shared on Twitter, Martinet will be taking up a new role as Mario Ambassador, where he will continue making appearances and “sharing the joy of Mario”. Presumably, he will be stepping back from recording voices not only for Mario, but every other Nintendo character whom he has been providing voice acting for such as Luigi, Wario, and Waluigi. A special video message regarding this change will be shared at a later date, featuring both Charles Martinet himself and Shigeru Miyamoto.
