Despite going up against mega blockbusters like Avengers: Endgame, it looks like the Detective Pikachu film is opening strong!
Data on the movie’s earnings is pouring in, with the film netting $5.7 million on Thursday evening. This is somewhat impressive in contrast to its contemporaries like Spiderman: Into the Spiderverse, which raked in $3.5 million on its own preview night.
According to analysts, this strong performance will only continue over this weekend. Currently, they estimate that the film could bring in around $53.6 million by Sunday.
All in all, it looks like the film has carved out a nice slice of the Hollywood profit pie! We’ll report back when more statistics about Detective Pikachu trickle in.
