With Detective Pikachu already shaping up to be a massive success, at least one or more sequels and spin-offs seem all but guaranteed. But what should these new live-action Pokemon films be about? And more importantly, who should be the star?
For the film’s screenwriters Dan Hernandez and Ben Samit, one top contender is everyone’s favorite singing balloon fairy: Jigglypuff. According to Hernandez, Jigglypuff’s struggle to achieve stardom without putting the audience to sleep with its song has a lot of potential for a great movie, mentioning Lady Gaga’s A Star Is Born as a potential inspiration.
“I am interested in Jigglypuff’s singing career. The severe problem of putting everyone to sleep. We love Jigglypuff. I like the weird Pokémon that really want something, and just by their nature, Jigglypuff can never achieve that.”
What do you think? Should Jigglypuff get its own solo film? Which other Pokemon characters would you choose to get their own live-action movie? Let us know in the comments below.
