Devil May Cry 5 Will Be Considered For Switch, If Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen Sells Well
Hideaki Itsuno, the director of Devil May Cry 5, previously stated that he would love to see the action title head to Nintendo Switch. While the possibility of a port is still far-off, Nintendo fans might still be able to convince Capcom to bring the game over, after all.
In a recent interview with German magazine M!, Itsuno expressed that his team might consider a Switch port of DMC 5. However, he would like to see Nintendo Switch owners first support his other game, Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen, which is launching on 23 April 2019. Here’s a translation courtesy of Nintendo Life:
“If Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen sells well on Switch, then we might consider porting DMC 5.”
For those wondering why a Switch port was not planned from the start, Itsuno also clarified that his team did not have Switch dev kits at the time:
“We started the development of DMC 5, while we didn’t have the dev-kits [for] the Switch. Because of that we concentrated on the PS4, Xbox One and PC version.”
It looks like Nintendo fans will just have to pray and hope that Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen excels on Nintendo Switch, and that Itsuno will be satisfied with the results. We’ll report back if anything new regarding DMC 5 develops.
