District 9 Director Expresses Interest In Making A Metroid Movie
Earlier this month, Nintendo and Illumination released the Super Mario Bros. Movie to massive commercial success, with many fans believing it will pave the way for even more film adaptations for videogames in the years to come.
Beyond Super Mario and The Legend of Zelda, one franchise that many fans seem to want on the big screen is Metroid, which has seen a resurgence in popularity after the success of Metroid Dread and the Metroid Prime remaster.
In a brief interaction on Twitter, South African-Canadian film director and screenwriter Neill Blomkamp expressed interest in working on the film for Nintendo. Blomkamp is well known for a number of acclaimed sci-fi films such as District 9, Chappie, and Elysium, making him a pretty good fit for a potential Metroid adaptation.

Of course, with the Super Mario Bros. only just finishing up its theatrical run, its unlikely that we’ll here about any future Nintendo movie adaptations any time soon. Stay tuned for more updates as they come.
