Donkey Kong Bananza Inspired Donkey Kong’s New Look

In the latest developer interview for Donkey Kong Bananza, it was revealed that Donkey Kong’s character design in Donkey Kong Bananza was the spark for Donkey Kong’s new design.

Donkey Kong’s new design was first seen in Super Mario Bros. The Movie, and made its first video game appearance in Mario Kart World.

Here’s what the developers have to say:

Does that mean that all of the recent Donkey Kong designs, including those from the movie and Mario Kart World, have their roots in the original one created by Miyamoto-san, with elements of Donkey Kong from Donkey Kong Bananza added to it?

Motokura: That’s correct. Donkey Kong Bananza sparked the creation of a design which I think better conveys the new Donkey Kong.

What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
