Early physical sales numbers from the United Kingdom have revealed how Donkey Kong Bananza performed at launch.

According to Christopher Dring, Donkey Kong Bananza debuted at number 1 in the UK charts for physical game software the week ending July 20, 2025. In terms of how its launch compares to other titles, it sold three times more than Donkey Kong Country Tropical Freeze on Nintendo Switch, but less than half of Super Mario Odyssey on Nintendo Switch.

These early numbers suggest that Donkey Kong Bananza could become the best performing Donkey Kong game in the series in recent history, though of course it’s nowhere close to toppling 3D Mario platformers, which have been traditionally strong sellers on every Nintendo platform.
