Dragon Quest XI And Splatoon 2 Continue To Dominate The Japanese Sales Charts
The numbers for last week’s video game software and hardware sales in Japan are in from Media-Create! Let’s take a look at how it went.
Taking the top two spots for last week is Dragon Quest XI. The Nintendo 3DS version sold 307k copies, while the PS4 version moved 200k copies. This makes brings up the total number of units sold to 2.5 million copies (both platforms, excluding digital downloads).
Splatoon 2 takes up third place, and figures show the hype train hasn’t stopped yet. The game moved 74k copies last week, bringing the lifetime total up to 827k copies.
New to the market last week is The Great Ace Attorney 2 (forth place), which launched on Nintendo 3DS with nearly 70k copies sold. The Great Ace Attorney 1+2 Collection (eighth place) sold 9.6k copies.
On the hardware side of things, Nintendo Switch retains its dominant position, moving 61,933 units. This is a 33% drop from the 99k units on the week before, but it’s probably due to insufficient supply, as 5000 people lined up to get a set last week.
A healthy stream of New Nintendo 2DS LL and New Nintendo 3DS LL units continue to move in the country, thanks to the launch of Dragon Quest XI. Both models moved 33,871 and 22,200 units respectively.
