Fans Prefer Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3’s Stylized Heroes Over Square Enix’s More Realistic Avengers Game

Earlier this week, Square Enix and Crystal Dynamics unveiled their highly anticipated AAA take on Marvel’s iconic superheroes: Marvel’s Avengers. While a rivalry with the Switch-exclusive Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 was inevitable, you may be surprised as to which game has taken the lead in the eyes of fans.

Despite aiming to impress with its realistic visuals and cinematic gameplay footage, fans quickly noticed that there was something a little off with Square’s first Marvel’s Avengers trailer. Namely, although the game was clearly heavily inspired by the popular Marvel Cinematic Universe version of the Avengers, Crystal Dynamics’ takes didn’t look anything at all like their movie counterparts. These “stunt doubles” quickly became the subject of many jokes in the days following.

This odd design direction of Marvel’s Avengers has led to many Marvel fans considering Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 the better Marvel game. Despite Ultimate Alliance 3 being made for a “less powerful” console, its stylised comic-book aesthetic makes it come across as more true to its source material than what the Marvel’s Avengers is offering. Furthermore, Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3 also features many more superheroes, including fan-favorite Hawkeye, who is mysteriously absent in Marvel’s Avengers despite being a founding member in the films.

What do you think? Which version of Marvel’s superheroes do you prefer? Let us know in the comments below.
