First-Party Nintendo Switch Games Receive Permanent HKD100 Price Cut In Hong Kong
Last month, Nintendo Hong Kong announced that it would be revising the prices of multiple first-party Nintendo Switch games offered on the Nintendo eShop in light of market conditions from June 1, 2025.
Now that it’s already June 1 in Hong Kong, the new prices have taken effect. Across the board, the vast majority of first-party Nintendo Switch games released before 2025 received a HKD100 (USD12.75) price cut. For example, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom saw its price drop from HKD499 (USD63.64) to HKD399 (USD50.89), and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe was reduced from HKD429 (USD54.71) to HKD329 (USD41.96).
As we’ve previously noted, this is the first time in years or possibly even decades where Nintendo reduced prices of the first-party games offered on the Nintendo eShop. In most regions, they would increase prices due to currency fluctuations. This makes the situation in Hong Kong unusual, as there hasn’t been any significant change in its currency.
