Funimation Set To Stream The World Ends With You The Animation In 2021
Earlier this weekend, Square Enix revealed The World Ends with You The Animation – an anime adaptation of the popular Nintendo DS title. While details on the anime’s release are still vague, we now have further information on where western audiences will be able to watch it!
Funimation has confirmed in a new blog post that it will be hosting the anime for its English-speaking audiences, when it launches in 2021. However, the company did not specify if the show would be receiving an English dub under its wing, or if it would just release with subtitles.
In any case, here is the full blog post by Funimation:
“Break out your Nintendo DS, because The Worlds Ends with You The Animation is officially coming to Funimation in 2021!
Just announced during FunimationCon 2020 weekend, the anime adaptation of the 2007 video game The World Ends with You from Square Enix and character designer Tetsuya Nomura (Kingdom Hearts, Final Fantasy VII Remake), will arrive on Funimation in 2021.
The Worlds Ends with You The Animation follows Neku Sakuraba as he’s thrust into a video game scenario in Shibuya called Reaper’s Game that will have him fighting for his life. Along with the allies he teams up with along the way, Neku will have to make it to the end to see his humanity again.
Fans of the series will be stoked to see the game’s art style come to life in anime, and the first trailer is a stunner. And if you’ve got a Nintendo Switch on hand and have never played The World Ends with You, there’s a “Final Remix” version of the game available, so get going!
