Furukawa: Nintendo Switch 2 Hardware And Games Are Priced According To Every Country’s Market Conditions
During the investor briefing on May 8, 2025, an investor asked how Nintendo decided to price Switch 2 hardware and software in various markets.
Nintendo president Shuntaro Furukawa answered that the company takes into consideration the overall market conditions of every country. Regarding hardware, the price isn’t just determined based on its manufacturing cost, but how customers react to the console’s price, as well as exchange rates and other factors.
Software pricing is also influenced by similar factors, with the addition of other factors such as the increased amount of content, longer development times, and increased development costs.
Furukawa says that the company will continue to determine suitable pricing “carefully” for each title, as they have done so in the past. Moving forward, they will also carefully consider how to set pricing for hardware in light of the US tariff situation.
