Furukawa Says Asia Has Potential For Nintendo, Wants To Challenge China
In the latest Kyoto News interview with Nintendo President Shuntaro Furukawa, Furukawa was asked about Nintendo’s overseas strategies.
Furukawa said Nintendo forecasts future growth (for Switch) in Asia excluding Japan, a market that hasn’t been particularly strong for Nintendo before the Switch era. He says Nintendo has “things yet to be done” in Asia.
The President also said if it’s possible, he wants to tackle the challenge of entering the mainland Chinese market, but did not elaborate anything further.
Besides the traditional console business, Furukawa wants to bring more Nintendo smartphone apps overseas, and will do it at the best strategy determined by Nintendo.
