Following the launch of Pokemon Scarlet And Violet‘s Version 2.0.1 update, players have discovered a new game-breaking bug introduced by the patch.
The bug was tested and documented by dataminer @mattyoukhana_, and occurs during the final battle of the game’s main story. This bug causes the game to crash during a pivotal moment, and will likely ruin the experience when encountered.
Without going into spoiler territory, all players need to do to when encountering this issue is to select their ride Legendary by scrolling up from the first party Pokemon, as opposed to going down over the 4th, 5th, or 6th Pokemon in their party.
For players who do not mid spoilers or have already encountered the issue, you can view Mattyoukhana’s post past the spoiler warning below for the full details:
The bug occurs during the final battle against the Paradise Protection Protocol, where players need to use their ride Pokemon to battle for the first time. The cause was determined to be having Koraidon (Scarlet) or Miraidon (Violet) registered in your Pokedex prior to this battle, which is possible via trading or using Pokemon HOME.
When the above conditions are met, if you move your party selection over the 4th, 5th, or 6th Pokemon in your party trying to get to your ride Pokemon, it causes the game to crash. This can be avoided by either having only 3 Pokemon in your party, or by pressing up from the 1st party Pokemon to reach your Ride Pokemon instead.
As this bug was never encountered in past versions of the game, it was presumably introduced in the latest Version 2.0.1. patch. Hopefully, this bug will be among the issues addressed by Pokemon Scarlet And Violet‘s next update, which is due to arrive sometime this month.
