Last year, the team behind Gamescom announced they were planning to host the first ever Gamescom Asia event in Singapore this October of 2020.
Unfortunately, due to the current global situation, it seems that Gamescom Asia will not be held this year as planned, and has instead been postponed to October 2021. This announcement was made via the event’s official Facebook account, and can be read in full below:
It is with heavy heart that we at Koelnmesse announce an official postponement of gamescom asia to 14 – 17 October 2021.
As optimistic as we were about bringing gamescom asia to life this October, we agreed that the world would not be situationally ready for this to happen. The health and safety of our participants is the top priority.
We have been especially encouraged by the enthusiasm from fans, partners and participants thus far. However, for an inaugural event, we also felt that it was important to give the community the full experience of what an amazing international event would be like, and not anything less.
Please continue to support us through these tough times.
New digital engagements to support the Asian games industry will be shared in the lead up to our refocused efforts on 2021. Let’s create the best gamescom asia next year.
