GameStop, the largest video game retailer in the United States, as issued a memo concerning the coronavirus outbreak to all employees.
The memo says that all midnight launch events, including those for Animal Crossing: New Horizons this Friday, have been suspended in order to prevent the spread of the coronavirus:
“Until further notice, late night launch events are suspended. To maintain the health and safety of our guests and associates, it is best that we avoid situations where large numbers of guests are gathered indoors or standing in line.”
GameStop has also asked employees to implement several health and safety measures, such as shutting down demo stations, enforcing a twice-hourly hand-washing mandate, and regularly cleaning Verifone payment terminals. However, the company isn’t providing any supplies, and have asked employees to source for the necessary sanitation products locally.
