Gamestop Will No Longer Accept Pre-orders For Pokemon TCG Products

Gamestop has announced a major change in how they will handle Pokemon Trading Card Game (TCG) releases in the future.

In an announcement on social media, the retailer confirmed that they will no longer offer pre-orders for Pokemon TCG products, as well as implementing purchase limits. These measures are seemingly to combat resellers, and allow more fans to enjoy the releases. Gamestop will also offer free card savers and card sleeves for grading.

Due to high demand and a lucrative after market, Pokemon TCG products often experience significant shortages after launch, with the most recent launch forcing The Pokemon Company to issue a statement that they will be doing reprints. Gamestop’s own measures will presumably give regular fans more chances to get their hands on the goods, although limited online pre-orders may potentially lead to other problems such as overcrowding at physical stores.
