Pokemon Center Singapore Cancels Launch Of Prismatic Evolutions TCG Set Due To Large Crowd

The Pokemon Center located at Singapore’s Jewel airport has cancelled their in-store release of the Prismatic Evolutions TCG set.

As seen in photos taken by Pokemon fan Chankit and shared on news outlet Mothership, the release of the highly anticipated TCG set drew a massive crowd of people on launch day. The crowd was so dense that the store decided to cancel the launch, citing “safety concerns” on a piece of signage posted outside the store and a post on Instagram.

Despite the store’s assurances that the sets would be available on their Shopee online store, the sets were reportedly sold out within seconds of its launch there. Chankit speculated that most of the crowd were probably scalpers looking to resell the sets online for profit, and criticized the Pokemon Center staff for not having plans in place to handle the crowd and not announcing the cancellation earlier.

“At the very least, there should have been some sort of queue management. It was just a confusing mess and we don’t know who was at the front.

Also, it would have been nicer if they announced the cancellation earlier cause people were still coming in when they made the announcement.”

Earlier this week, the Pokemon Company acknowledged the high demand for the sets and detailed plans to reprint them in the future. Hopefully, Pokemon Center Singapore will have better measures in place to handle customers when the restocks eventually arrive.
